Are you aware that a good number of brand new computers are pre-infected with dangerous malware due to pirated software? According to joint study conducted by IDC and the National University Singapore (NUS), the practice makes the users and companies readily vulnerable to security breaches and cost. The NUS forensics analysis of 203 new PCs loaded with pirated software found that a staggering 61 percent of the PCs were pre-infected with unsafe malware, including Trojans, worms, viruses, hacktools, rootkits and adware. Do you really need a PhD? You must read this debate of the month!
Here is a post on my LinkedIn and attracted a lot of interest. What is your take? “Many PhD holders have NOT added anything new to the body of knowledge. That’s why you shouldn’t do one UNTIL you are ready to add something new.” Here is what Patrick had to say: Patrick Mwebesa FCCAI totally agree, on LinkedIn alone there are thousands of them. Are you failing enough? If you fail again, it means you are alive! Keep failing
If you fail, it means you are trying. If you fail again, it means you are alive. If you fail, again and again and again, it means you seek to make a different to society. That is good of you. It means you’re not comfortable with the status quo. I cannot imagine the number of times I was discouraged from starting a business magazine (Summit Business www.sbreview.net). The first thing they would tell me was: “you’re not a journalist”. Now I know, you don’t have to be a journalist, to run a successful publications business. Since 2008, I’ve been publishing…
Pro or anti tobacco, the war goes on.
The ongoing parliamentary sittings on the issue of raising taxes on tobacco seems to have no near future end. Pro tobacco activists such as some members of parliament mainly from West Nile region, a tobacco growing area, Bunyoro and Kigezi regions emphasize that tobacco growing is a key source of revenue to the country contributing about US$ 115million annually. Tobacco is Uganda’s the second agricultural earner of foreign exchange making up 4% of the total export revenue the country received in 2013. The Managing Director of British American Tobacco Uganda (BAT) at a meeting held at BAT central purchasing point…
A victim of stolen computer or phones? Worry NO More!
It is reported that over 150 computers and mobile phones are reported to Uganda Police as having been stolen on a daily basis. There are many other victims who don’t file police reports, an indication that the problem of theft is very big. As an investigator and fraud examiner, my experience is that when your computer or mobile devise is stolen, the biggest loss is not the value of the asset, rather the value of data, software, applications, and information on it. Thieves target high end devises like iPads, smart phones and laptops — many of which are owned by…
