The Uber driver

On 3rd March 2021, I took an Uber Taxi after a long time. I went to a meeting and sent my Assistant who also doubles as my driver on an errand. Meeting ended earlier. I opted for Uber instead of waiting.

Uber driver: Thanks for accepting to ride with me. Do you prefer AC on or off? Which do you prefer as your best route?

Me: Keep AC on. Let’s use the App directions.

Uber driver: Thanks.

Me: How are you? How is 2021 taking you?

Uber driver: It’s tough. Lots of work. I drive the Uber taxi during the day, at night I am doing my projects and online business. It is low but promising. Uber has helped keep me oiled.

Me: So what do you do?

Uber: I help write proposals for NGOs looking for funding. And also I do mentorship for people concerning nutrition and career guidance? Anyone below 18 years should not be sick unless they are feeding real badly. At that age, they are building their body defenses and immunity. But you find kids are taking too many sweets and sugar, eating late or poorly. I help with such things.

Me: Thats cool man! In case you need a partner to work with, call me.

The leadership takeaway

Passion and confidence are infectious. When you have an open mind, you find gems.

I liked the Uber taxi driver and I will surely help him achieve his dreams. We shall find a way to work.

He is just down-to-earth and upbeat.
