How to be productive and focused this week

It’s the 22nd of March 2021!

Who knew 2020 would become history? Here we are. Life goes on. Below are insights be more productive’.

  1. Use the morning for the ‘big picture thinking’. Focusing on the top line or revenue growth is critical. Have habits that drive incomes or revenues in whatever you do. Visit prospects. Make phone calls. WhatsApp, Skype, or send something of value to them. Be on the lookout for the birthdays and key milestones of your partners and their inner circle buddies. The best way to start a conversation is to give something of value to the other party.
  2. Be in constant touch with your supervisors or seniors. The more close communication with the people ahead of you, the better your career success and of course, your performance on the job. Always be proactive. Initiate the conversation. My favourite email or message to my supervisor or close peer or senior is: “Sir/ Madam, my targets for this month/week are to attract Ugx. 500m fix deposits. I plan to do the following:
    a) Join an investment club. This is a long term game. I plan in 12 months to become a senior member as Secretary, at their first election. This will help me influence the decision.
    b) Generate a list of the top 1000 taxpayers in the SMEs segment. Thereafter, I will visit the CFOs of each company three, per day to create a relationship.
  3. c) Start a new business opportunities newsletter, to be delivered digitally.

The above are my top priorities for Week 4 of March 2021. I will keep you updated on the progress.

The purpose of this email/ message is to request an appointment to pick your ideas on what I plan to do. I need to meet you in person to benefit from your usual guidance. In case your schedules do not allow it, please reply with anything you think I might have missed.”

Send such email or message once a week, whether they reply or not. In future, during a performance evaluation, your supervisor cannot bring the issue that you don’t communicate effectively what you are working on.

At the end of the week, provide a status update of what you achieved. And the targets, and work plan for the upcoming period.
