What am I good at?
I was once an Internal Auditor at Nile Bank, now ABSA. One day, I witnessed a colleague being terminated for lacking qualifications. That moment cut deep. I went home shaken, not because it happened to someone else, but because it could have been me.
So, I did what the comfortable never do.
I began reading. Studying. Becoming.
Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA. Then Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Then, Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA). Then Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH). Then, Certified Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI). Then, Master of Business Administration (MBA). Then Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Then Certified Forensic Accountant (CrFA).
At one point, my email signature read like a certificate shop, Mustapha B Mugisa, MBA, CFE, CISA, ACCA, CPA, CrFA, CEH, CHFI, CEI…
“The world does not reward qualifications. It rewards transformation. No one cares what is after your name if nothing changes because of you.”
But eventually, I realised something sobering.
The world does not reward qualifications. It rewards transformation. No one cares what is after your name if nothing changes because of you.
So I chose three:
- MBA–because I earned it for life.
- CFE–because Uganda bleeds fraud, and someone must stop the bleeding.
- CPA–because without it, you are just another accountant.
The rest? They are in my head and my work. If they do not show in my thinking, I have failed.
You asked what I am good at.
I will tell you.
I am a generalist with dangerous depth.
I bring the wide lens of a strategist. The precision of a forensic auditor. The instincts of a hacker. The brain of a financial surgeon. And the heart of a teacher.
I do not see departments. I see linkages.
Where others debate vision, I diagnose what is holding it back.
Where teams complain about culture, I trace the broken loops in process, structure, or leadership.
Where boards approve plans, I provoke clarity on execution.
When a client calls me Mr Strategy, it is not flattery. It is a function.
Because I bring it all together, risk, finance, technology, people, operations, and I help you make one move that shifts everything.
In today’s business world, you cannot afford to be linear. You must think like a systems architect. You must make decisions fast, under pressure, with incomplete data, and still be right.
That is where I come in.
So, if you’re tired of strategies that look good on paper but fail in the trenches, let me audit your strategy.
If you want a mentor who does not flatter but transforms, who will walk with you through the fire, not around it, then stop guessing.
I am Mr Strategy.
And I make leaders win.
When is your next retreat?
Let us make it count.
I remain, Mr Strategy.
