If you have ever traveled a long journey whether by road, air or sea, you have experienced a burnout on the journey. You reach a time when you have to take a nap. Of course if you are the driver and take a nap, the result could be catastrophic. That is why it is advised that once you feel like wanting to sleep, stop, pack and take a quick nap. And so is life. It does not matter how busy you are or what must be accomplished. You must stop working and go to bed. The reasons are for your body to freshen up and for your brains to relax.

Today is exactly 84 days to the New Year, 2018. The question is what have you achieved so far in 2017? Now is the time to pack aside. And take stock of your achievements. And plan ahead. Don’t be like most people who plan to accomplish so many things in the coming year. As an individual, focus on making choices of what you will do and what you will not do.

When a person is sick. He or she goes to the Doctor for diagnosis and medication. If, unfortunately, the Doctor finds that you are suffering from more than three diseases — HIV, cough, abdominal pain and underweight – does the Doctor give you medicines for each one of them or you get medication for the most critical disease that is the cause of all the others? Of course you cannot start taking medicines for all ailments at once.

That is what you must do in your life. Don’t plan to achieve so many things in the coming year. Focus on achieving few critical ones. Don’t plan to build a good house before you focus on first buying land, unless of course you plan on breaking some of the Ten Commandments! So, first set a priority/ target to buy a specific piece of land in your desired location. And only after that is achieved, you may plan to develop it. That way, you take your life in steps and get the opportunity to celebrate small milestones. That is what life is all about.
