I know people have told you about developing a personal brand. You have gotten so many ideas. In this case, I want you to build an internal brand that sets you apart, be a source of attraction in your organization. I don’t know whether you know about a queen bee. The bees can fly anyway but will always come back to the queen bee.

How do you position yourself to be a magnet and center of attraction so that people feel your presence? To have this kind of recognition, it takes you to have a clear game plan on how you are willing to achieve it.

First; identify your playing field. Every organisation uses Microsoft windows, and run a lot of applications like Word, Excel, Power Point Presentation, and Access. And guess what? An average organization only uses just 20-30% of the capabilities of the investment made in Microsoft windows applications. Imagine, you spend money, invest in an asset only to use 20% of its potential.

If you position yourself as Miss Access or Mr Power Point, you are effectively going to be a champion in any organization showing everyone how to use Access on their computer. In life, focus on soft skills which everyone is in demand of. You will come into the spaces of many people especially the CEO, it means that you are on your way to succeed.

Remember, creating a personal brand is about identifying a special skill to master and find a way of being recognized as the leading expert in it.
