How to parent teens in the era of coronavirus

    August 21, 2020 / No Comments

“How do you parent a teenager?” A man on the other side of the call, said, even before introducing himself. “Who is this”, I asked. “This is your friend on your Facebook page. Do I have to introduce myself to seek your advice? I need your help. I am finding it difficult to parent my girl who is just turning 16 years. She is slowly becoming a monster. She does not listen. She is full of herself. Very lazy. And the only time I see her smile is when I tell her ‘I am going to town, be a good…

The river has moved! The bridge is no longer useful

    August 6, 2020 / No Comments

The river has moved! The bridge is no longer useful Coronavirus is a mighty wind that has changed the global landscape in terms of how people lead and make choices. It is one of the powerful change agents of the 21st century. Times and challenges have changed, and so have management beliefs and practices. Gone are the days when printing magazines made lots of money. Not anymore. The Internet made exclusive content readily available. Many magazines and print newspaper publications have since changed their business models in response to the new realities. Others have adopted the hybrid business models of…

    Coronavirus is legendary

    August 3, 2020 / No Comments

Every city has stories of legends. Remember the movie urban legend? When you travel to a new city and find a knowledgeable tour guide, you are assured of great local stories about legends and heroes of the past. The stories will not only scare but entertain and uplift your spirits.   The tourism industry, especially museums and traditional sites, is not complete without stories like these and more. Six years ago, I visited Thailand’s big city, Bangkok, and the lady tour guide kept us hooked about the local stories of legends – kings, monks, and the country’s tradition. “In this compound,…

COVID-19 case death rate per capita increasing in the US and SA…

    July 15, 2020 / No Comments

Coronavirus pandemic continues to top global news. As of today, total confirmed cases globally stand at 13.3million, out of which 577,954 have died. Uganda is still fortunate with a zero-case mortality rate. To know how lucky Uganda is, study carefully the Table 1, Table 2, and Graph 1. The COVID-19 case death rate in the USA was at 0.039% as of 27th June 2020. The death rate increased to 0.042% as of 15th July 2020. This means as a cumulative number of cases increases, the higher the case mortality. This is not a good trend. The trend more than…

Living with and near #Covid-19, the new world order

    July 14, 2020 / No Comments

Jokes aside, and with no offense intended to our Chinese brothers and sisters, we need a scientific explanation of the current state of the coronavirus cases. Uganda has a 0% case mortality rate compared to the global case mortality rate of the virus is 4.4%, which is a welcome development as it shows a decline from an all-time high at 7.1% in May 2020.

How to stop coronavirus pandemic from gaining momentum

    July 7, 2020 / No Comments

We are now living in coronavirus times. Businesses world over are slowly resuming and re-opening as people and leaders sidestep the statistics and the daily updates. Many major news networks no longer provide ongoing daily updates about the state of the pandemic. Compare the situation today with that around February and March 2020, at the peak of the coronavirus pandemic, everywhere one looked, it was about the coronavirus pandemic. This is no longer the issue and it is a cause for worry. It appears there is reducing the transparency of the intensity of the infections by different countries as the…
