    April 2, 2014 / No Comments

As long as one is presentable and can demonstrate fluency in English and Math, to me they are good for the job. I don’t need to administer an aptitude test. That is usually for some HR folks who cannot pass aptitude themselves! See, such exercises are a waste of time and money. As a busy executive, time is my most valuable asset. I want to spend every minute I have on strategy, marketing and customer satisfaction. These days I’ve been receiving about five to 10 applicants for a job at my company. It is a good sign that we can…

Uganda Revenue Authority records 270 billion tax deficit

    April 1, 2014 / No Comments

According to March 2014 reports, Uganda Revenue Authority is having a deficit of about 270 billion in tax revenue for the financial year slated to end June 2014. If it continues this way it will mean that the National Budget will have to be realigned bearing in mind that most donor aid has been put on hold. Comparing to the same period last year, the revenue collection is much higher though not enough to reduce the cumulative deficit of Ugx. 270 billion. While releasing the performance review last week, Mr. Richard Kamujugo, the Commissioner Customs noted that February 2014 registered…

New computers are pre-infected with dangerous malware-Study

    March 27, 2014 / No Comments

Are you aware that a good number of brand new computers are pre-infected with dangerous malware due to pirated software? According to joint study conducted by IDC and the National University Singapore (NUS), the practice makes the users and companies readily vulnerable to security breaches and cost. The NUS forensics analysis of 203 new PCs loaded with pirated software found that a staggering 61 percent of the PCs were pre-infected with unsafe malware, including Trojans, worms, viruses, hacktools, rootkits and adware. Do you really need a PhD? You must read this debate of the month!

    March 27, 2014 / No Comments

Here is a post on my LinkedIn and attracted a lot of interest. What is your take? “Many PhD holders have NOT added anything new to the body of knowledge. That’s why you shouldn’t do one UNTIL you are ready to add something new.” Here is what Patrick had to say: Patrick Mwebesa FCCAI totally agree, on LinkedIn alone there are thousands of them. One wonders how PhDs are awarded? Paul came in defense of the PhD holders: Paul MwebesaWell, one of the things you are asked to do as part of your PhD is to try and publish your…
