China, a fast growing country with many investments allover Africa is now eyeing Rwanda as the next potential investment area. C&H, a Chinese garments company announced its plans of setting an investment in Rwanda worth $10million in the five years to come. The company is set to build a local textile plant in the Kigali Special Economic Zone. Miss Helen Hai, one of the proprietors of C&H Garments Company said the company will offer a total employment to 200 workers by September 2014. Why NSSF recent proposal to increase deductions is baseless.
The recent proposal by NSSF management to increase monthly contribution from the current 15% is unreasonable and based on un-researched facts. NSSF should be looking at how to invest wisely the money it already has other than looking out for more when the contributors are yet to realize the many sunk benefits over the years. for example, NSSF gambled with workers money in Uganda Clays shares, which have now fallen sharply beyond reason. These are areas that we need answers. Imagine how much money we are talking about – NSSF is the largest shareholder; with majority shares in Uganda clays.…
Why Fraud and corruption will remain Uganda’s problem.
The recent published pay for top managers in Government parastatal has left many Ugandans tongue tied. Our economy is not doing so well with high fuel prices, rising food prices and overall increased cost of living. The current capitalist setup makes the poor poorer and the few with opportunities to short-change others are doing it with renewed vigor and are becoming richer. The published income disparities of EDs/CEOs of some of top corporations in Uganda make matters worse. Other people in the organization are likely to feel cheated (and therefore justify their actions) and in the process end up committing…

Precedence: court dismisses Ssebagala ringtone case with costs
This is historical ruling. I love the reasoning behind it all. This Justice, is indeed a learned one. Below is the ruling of Hajj Nasser Ssebagala’s case against Uganda’s telecom leader, MTN over the alleged copyright infrigement of using the plaintiff’s speech as ringtone. Justice Christopher Madrama has dismissed with costs the case in which Haji Nasser Ssebagala sued MTN for using his speech as ringtone. In a judgement read before a parked court in Kampala today, the Judge ruled that Sebagala was not the author of the recording and therefore could not claim ownership of it. He added that…
President Museveni full statement on homosexuality at the signing of the anti-gay bill into law
Inspite of threat from global institutions and personalities like US president Barrack Obama, President Museveni finally signed the Anti—Homosexuality Bill 2009 into.law. Under the law, the penalty for same-sex conduct is now life imprisonment. The “attempt to commit homosexuality” incurs a penalty of seven years as does “aiding and abetting” homosexuality. A person who “keeps a house, room, set of rooms, or place of any kind for purposes of homosexuality” also faces seven years’ imprisonment. Because the law also criminalizes the “promotion” of homosexuality, there are far-reaching implications beyond the increase in punishments for same-sex sexual conduct. A person could…
