The state of #covid19 in Uganda: My take on the President’s address

    April 29, 2020 / No Comments

Kampala: 28th April 2020 – President Museveni made yet another Presidential Address on the state of #covid19. Below are the highlights. The coronavirus pandemic is real. To prevent the spread of the virus in Uganda, several measures were put in place nationwide. About 2,000 people who defied the directives have been arrested to date, thanks to the vigilance of the security forces. Coronavirus confirmed cases are 79 in Uganda. 52 Ugandans, and 27 foreigners, the majority of whom are Tanzanians at 13, and nine Kenyans. Now, the situation is under control. As of today, a total of 12,390 people tested…

#Covid19 reality check: One Noble Truth Is That Suffering Exists

    April 29, 2020 / No Comments

Is suffering part of life? To live means to suffer because human nature is not perfect, and neither is the world we live in. During our lifetime we inevitably must endure physical suffering such as pain, sickness, injury, tiredness, old age, and eventually death. Through all this, we must endure anguish which presents itself in sadness, fear, frustration, disappointment, and at times depression. There are different degrees of suffering and there are also positive experiences that arise from it. The truth is that suffering is terrible. While still alive most of us would prefer peace, comfort, and happiness. Yet life…

How to formulate a #covid19 response and recovery strategy and work plan

    April 28, 2020 / No Comments

Are you winning or losing to the coronavirus pandemic? The economy, businesses, and lives have been disrupted. Now is the time to put in place a response strategy to respond to the covid19 challenge. The good news is the covid19 risks are systematic – or general risks that affect all the businesses. Unlike unique or unsystematic risks that affect a sector or business, covid19 has affected all companies in equal measure. Covid19 happened suddenly. It is like an airplane that is moving normally and suddenly enters think clouds that cause turbulences, and all the passengers in the aeroplane hold on…

Is your strategy effective? What is your covid19 response strategy?

    April 28, 2020 / No Comments

Every challenge calls for a strategy – the process of making choices on how to win. Coronavirus times like these challenge us to be the best. You can start by defining your strategic challenge and clear choices to win. What are the things you will do and the things you will not do? You cannot win by doing everything. You must choose your battles carefully. Many families are struggling with what to eat. People are under lockdown in their houses, and they seem to be forgotten. Others have bigger problems – their shops or businesses are under lockdown and every…

Why Indian families succeed in business than most African ones

    April 27, 2020 / No Comments

I have noticed that Asians – Indians and Chinese work more as a team than Africans. In all countries where Indians operate, they live better lives and run successful businesses. Their success is attributed to a better understanding of how the world works. They do not believe in individualism. A father will allow the children to marry in their home. For example, you have a very rich man like Sudhir Ruparelia, having his son to marry and live in the same house! Yes, the house is big. Much as Sudhir is Ugandan, his practices are teamwork focused and leverage from…
