Not all staff are the same. Star performers have habits for high performance. A habit is something a staff does daily. It is part of their sub-conscious mind. The conscious mind asks many questions and, in the process, slows things down. It will ask why often. It is the area which harbors procrastination. Why do this today. I will do it tomorrow. And when tomorrow comes, I will do it next week. In the process, the month goes by without any success. The conscious mind preaches perfection – which is a road block to progress. No innovative company has ever…
What type of employee are you?
The partner came to my colleagues and asked to see the proposal for a consultancy project whose deadline was fast approaching: “So, Jane where is the proposal. I see we are running out of time. That way you have all the time to re-read the request for proposal document and add any information that could be missing.” If you have worked in a professional services firm like audit or consulting firm, law firm and engineering firm, you understand the pressure…

The exposure is both at bank and service provider levels.…
The Internet wizkid – computer fraud in a bank in Kenya
XY, a financial institution, suffered US $504,000 loss in fraudulent transactions. The culprits did it by: (i) gaining access to the super administrator (“sa”) password through social engineering. The bank’s system admin accessed the Head of ICT’s notebook and got part 1 of the password. He then tricked the MD’s to have his computer updated with a recent patch contrary to the normal procedure where an external firm provides such maintenance service under a…
